Gender: Male
Species: Unknown
Body type: Six-legged, six-armed caterpillar
Location: Uum's house
Player romance: Yes, male players only

Miggpli is a wildlife researcher temporarily residing in Uum's house in Taodal. Physically, he resembles a man-sized caterpillar with six pairs of limbs, with the front half of his body standing up to allow for human-like interactions with his environment. He has two eyes and a pair of feelers on his chin. His visible body has a uniform, dark brown-green color to it.

Background[edit | edit source]

He decided to become a zoologist after his parents sent him to Shiroo for education. During his stay in the academic circles there, he got caught up in an on-going craze for morphology research and has personally catalogued 286 different species so far to support that. The up to date catalogue of known species in Noih, the count of which is in tens of thousands, doesn't include small creatures due to the insane scope of that sort of project.

He follows a philosophical religion of living mystery that seeks self-betterment as a path to enlightenment, noticeable by the pendant he wears, and it might play a role in his generally courteous attitude that accompanies his shyness.

He's not engaged with Uum whose house he resides in. They're both zoologists, and she was a senior in the group Miggpli studied in, as well. After some fight with someone higher up, she decided to leave and eventually settled in Taodal. When Miggpli arrived there to expand his knowledge of the Sejan wildlife, she offered him a place to stay for however long it would take.

Player interactions[edit | edit source]

He can be first encountered when Shyni sends the player to Uum to ask about the cursed bowl, but instead of her, they find Miggpli. He gives the player valuable advice and information about Sejan's fauna if they ask about it. Note that the player needs to encounter the animals first before they can ask Miggpli about them. The player can also ask him about the tablet map and cursed bowl, which is the main reason why they've even come to him, but he has no explanation.

Cuoxur research[edit | edit source]

The player can ask Miggpli if he needs help with anything. He will offer the player a chance to participate in his wildlife research regarding cuoxurs. If the player agrees to help, they should go to the forests near Taodal at night and tag two cuoxur males and two females with colored starfish-like shells of animals called amouls. He asks the player to do this because cuoxurs are hard to discern from each other and too aggressive for Miggpli to approach them himself. Starting this quest will temporarily make the cuoxur pit event much more frequent. All of the required animals can be tagged in a single encounter this way.

Once that is done, the two go to observe the local cuoxur population outside of Taodal. During the journey there, Miggpli turns out to be easily fatigued, stopping to catch his breath - that is, unless the player gives him a piggyback ride, succesful with Strength 6. At the appropriate location, the two start digging a small trench to hide in and to observe the animals from. The player does most of the work, making Miggpli feel ever so slightly embarrassed, and he promises to treat the player for a drink later. After some slight difficulties setting up the lure, a giadendrin pheromone, they hide in the hole and pass the time by playing Oiai, a board game, since they need to stay quiet. Some time afterwards, cuoxurs show up and proceed with mating rituals that Miggpli carefully writes down.

By the time he and the player finish up and return to the village, it's already evening. Saying their good nights, the two part ways.

Meirolli klatch for two[edit | edit source]

When the player visits Miggpli again, he invites them for the drink he promised, leading them into a side room filled with pillows. Uum most probably used the room for relaxation and treating visitors before Miggpli's arrival, who chose to sleep in there for the duration of his stay in Taodal, as he doesn't want to disturb her personal room.

Miggpli brings a large ceramic vessel filled with meirolli and offers some to the player. Unlike the stuff in the tavern, this one's of very good quality. If the player doesn't want to drink alcohol, Miggpli offers them some home-made pulp juice instead.

The player then has a choice of five different questions to ask him, but in practice only three can be discussed in a single playthrough. When asking the fourth question, if the player character is female, Miggpli ends the evening. Apparently he's tired, and the player's attempts at flirting with him during and after the questionnaire will be fruitless. However, if the player character is male, Miggpli instead stands up and brings a platter of various fruits and berries to feed to the player. His behaviour quickly changes, going from handing the player the various treats to kissing and undressing him.

The player can ask Miggpli what's he doing, not getting much of an answer. On repeated rejections, he stops and apologises, quite embarrassed, before the player leaves. The player can also choose to let him continue, engaging in sex with him and spending the night in the pillow room. The following day, the player can have a little talk with him before leaving. Miggpli mentions that he's leaving for Shiroo soon after finishing his cuoxur research and that he would be happy if the player would meet him there too. On the player's next visit, if Miggpli's advances were rejected, he apologises again about his aggressive behaviour. He then explains that he's brought his habits from Shiroo, and that he felt like he needed to be more assertive, overdoing it in the player's case.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • From v1 to v2, Miggpli's height changed, and he's now noticeably shorter.
  • He can detect nerve signals of someone else through his skin. This catches him by surprise if he spends a night with the player.
